Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce elects new Board for 2026-2028

Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) has elected a 16-member Board of Directors for the term 2026-2028 with Mr. Kazuiki Kataoka as its President.

The election was held on September 13, 2026 & September 23, 2026.

Mr. AZM Azizur Rahman, Acting Chairman, Election Board (Former Member of BEPZA) president and conducted the Election.

Mr. Kazuiki Kataoka has been elected as the President of JBCCI.  He is the Country Representative of JETRO Dhaka Office. He has served as a Joint Secretary-General in the term 2024-2026.

Mr. Rabiul Alam has been elected as the Secretary General of JBCCI. He is the Managing Director of MKK Logistics. He has served as a Director in the JBCCI Board in the term 2024-2026. He has also served as a Secretary General in the Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Mr. Kenji Kimura has been elected as the Treasurer of JBCCI. He is the Chief Representative of MUFG Bank Dhaka Office, which is the largest Bank in Japan and a member of Mitsubishi Group. He has served as a Director in the JBCCI Board in the term 2024-2026.

The election was conducted by a three-member Election Board headed by Mr. AKM Kamrul Islam FCA, First Banking Ombudsman of Bangladesh along with Mr.A.Z.M Azizur Rahman, who has 42 years extensive experience with BEPZA and has worked extensively in investment promotion, FDI, local investment and export development for 42 years.

A three-member Election Appeal Board was also formed, headed by Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mazid, Former Chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Secretary of the Government of Bangladesh, Honorary Member of JBCCI along with Mr. Abdul Haque, Former President of JBCCI and a pioneering entrepreneur and private-sector leader with 50+ years of experience, Founder & Managing Director of Haq’s Bay Automobiles Ltd.

The Board of Directors has also been refreshed, featuring key industry leaders from both the Japanese and Bangladeshi business communities. This dynamic team includes:

Mr.Kazuiki Kataoka has been elected as the President of JBCCI. He is the Country Representative of JETRO Dhaka Office. He has served as a Joint Secretary-General in the outgoing Board of JBCCI.

Mr. Abu Zaman Md. Tariqul Islam has been elected as the Vice President 1 of JBCCI. He is the Managing Director of Yusen Logistics (Bangladesh) Ltd. He has served as a Director in the JBCCI Board in the term 2024-2026.

Mr. Syed Samiul Huq has been elected as Vice President 2 of JBCCI. Director of Japan Solartech Bangladesh Ltd. He has previously served in the JBCCI Board as a Director 2 times.

Mr. Rabiul Alam has been elected as the Secretary General of the Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI). He is the Managing Director of MKK Logistics. He has He has served as a Director in the JBCCI Board in the term 2024-2026. He has also served as a Secretary General in the Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Mr. Oliver Kutz has been elected as Joint Secretary General of JBCCI. He is s the Managing Director of JT International Bangladesh Ltd.

Mr. Kenji Kimura has been elected as the Treasurer of JBCCI. He is the Chief Representative of MUFG Bank Dhaka office, which is the largest Bank in Japan and a member of Mitsubishi Group. He has 25 years’ experience in Commercial Banking sector, out of which he has been supporting a lot of Japanese companies in Vietnam, India and Bangladesh for 10 years.

Mr. Saumitra Kumar Mutsuddihas been elected as Joint Treasurer of JBCCI. He is the Head of Corporate Affairs, BSRM Ltd. and also a Executive Committee Member of BAAS.
