Canadian University of Bangladesh Organized an International Webinar titled“Teaching and Learning Virtually: Coping with the Pandemic as an Academic”recently. To promote applicable strategies in virtual teaching and learning, the Canadian University of Bangladesh Department of English and English Club jointly organized an international webinar via Zoom meeting. Highly distinguished panelists from both home and abroad joined as resource persons in the session.

The Webinar commenced with an inaugural speech from the honorable Vice Chancellor of Canadian University of Bangladesh, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam, P.Eng who graced the occasion as the chief guest. The first Speaker Dr. Syeda Farzana Hafsa, Assistant Professor, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh spoke on the topicScope of Professional Development in Changing Times.Another panelist, Mr. Baman Kumar Ghimire joined from Nepal spoke on the topic: Role of Motivation in Online Teaching, on which he has been working for a very long time. Distinguished panelists was Dr. Rubina Khan, former Chair, and Professor Department of English, University of Dhaka spoke on the very relevant topic: Overcoming barriers in online assessment.

The webinar ended with an interactive question-answer session with the participants, followed by concluding remarks from Dr. Zohir Biswas, Head of Film and Television Department, CUB.Dr. Biswas also has explained the benchmark quality success of online class and virtual extra-curricular activities (ECA) achieved by this university during pandemic.The entire session was moderated by two distinguished Lecturers of CUB Department of English, Ms. Anika Subah Ahmad, who is also Advisor of CUB English Club, and Mr. Abdullah Mahmud.

This is to mention that CUB has been one of the pioneering universities in conducting online class and assessment during the Covid-19 pandemic. All the classes are being taken online by the hardworking faculty members so that the students do not have to suffer any study gap. The university is providing all the support to the teachers and the students to facilitate effective online education and reliable assessment.
