6th season of Textile Talent Hunt concluded with aspiration of innovation

After series of activities, grooming, training and in-depth research works of almost two years, the 6th season of Textile Talent Hunt, TTH 2017-18finally has just been concluded successfully on 4 August 2019. Rashedul Islamwon the Championship crown of the year 2017-18 where Fahmida Faiza Fahmi and Nipa Khair became the 1st and 2nd runner up respectively in the contest.

The winner of the competition was awarded a cheque Tk 75000 worth of money where the 1st runner up and 2nd runner up awardeda cheque of Tk 40000 and Tk 25000 correspondingly. In the event top 13 finalists also received Textile Talent Hunt 2017-18 recognition certificate for their best efforts in the competition.

After series of activities, grooming, training and in-depth research works of almost two years, the 6th season of Textile Talent Hunt, TTH 2017-18 Grand Finale and Award Giving Ceremony held at Uttara Club, Dhaka, at Family Lounge.

At the very end of the long competition process best five talents presented the outcome of their research project at the Grand Finale Event. Judges selected the Champion, Runners Ups and other winners based on the credibility, impact and performance of the participants and their projects.

All three best talents were from the Bangladesh University of Textiles. Their research subjectswere respectively Design and development of smart personal floatation device with location tracking; Potato starch-based warp yarn sizing: new ray of hope for the rural farmers of Bangladesh and Energy harvesting from the human body-movement during walking by integrating piezoelectric PVDF film in the garment.

Md. SadmanSakib and Md. Abdus Salam who competed in the tight contest won the fourth and fifth position correspondingly with their research projects ‘Development of e-textile at low cost wirelessly controlled pulse acquisition system and vibration system for relaxing’ and ‘Design development of agro-textiles for cultivation of lateral spread rooted plants through soilless vertical farming’.

“I would like to thank the judges for making me the winner,” Rashedul Islam, the winner expressed his feelings.

“Every year thousands of people are dying in the waterway accident. Very few of the passengers are alive after the accident due to the lacking of proper safeguard. Passengers are not willing to wear the life jacket/life vest during their journey via waterway due to the discomfort ability and bulkiness. I just tried to solve this problem by designing and developing a smart personal floatation (sPFD) that will reduce the bulkiness and improves the comfortability,” Rashedul explained.

Textile Talent Hunt is an initiative of Bangladesh Textile Today organized in association with Bangladesh University of Textile (BUTEX) & The Textile Institute (TI). It is the first ever talent grooming competition for the undergrad students studying in textile garments and fashion in different universities. Program focus is to prepare the future leaders to adopt latest developments by involving them in research or knowledge generation projects in a modern approach through different grooming and training activities

After its inception in 2008 Textile Today successfully has completed TTH 2009, TTH 2010, TTH 2012, TTH 2013 & TTH 2015, and now concluded the 6th season of Textile Talent Hunt, TTH 2017-18 with a greater impact and results.

Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor (Acting), BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology, chaired the program where Professor Md. Abul Kashem, Vice Chancellor, Bangladesh University of Textiles was present as Chief Guest.

Prof. Syed Fakhrul Hassan, Chairman, School of Science & Engineering and Chairman, Dept. of Textile Engineering, Southeast University; AbdusSobhan, Managing Director, Auko-Tex Limited; Md. Hasib Uddin,  Chairman, APS Group; Abdullah Hil Rakib, Managing Director, Team Group; ATM MahbubulAlam Chowdhury, Executive Director, Masco Group; Amanur Rahman; Director, Dysin Group; A S M Hafizur Rahman Nixon, Chief Operating Officer, Swiss Colours Bangladesh Ltd. l attended as Special Guest.

Chief Guest Professor Md. Abul Kashem, Vice Chancellor, Bangladesh University of Textiles thanked Textile Today authority for organizing such innovative competition program with saying “Textile Today is like a deep-rooted tree, which is contributing to develop the textile industry tremendously.”

“TTH truly an intensive incubator that grooms’ talents to electrify in revealing their excellence. The biggest difference is made by the talents who had to remain focused and active through so long time. I am giving a big kudos to all the participants, the best 50 and especially to them who completed their research work,” said Tareq Amin, Editor and Publisher of Textile Today and the organizer of the TTH.

In a separate Session namely ‘Industry Transformation’, he presented his speech on New outlook of Textile Talent Hunt namely‘Building Transformation Leaders’, the 7th session of the Textile Talent Hunt which is going to be held by the end of this year.

Declaring BDT 30 lacs scholarship for the seventh season hediscussed about today’s challenges and opportunities of the textile industry. Emphasizing on continuous learning process to transform human capital through culturing and training he showed how the TTH new outlook is aligned with recent demands of textile industry.

Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor (Acting), BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology, said in his conclusion speech, “Textile Today is involved such innovative activities from its inception. All stakeholders should come forward to support Textile Today as it can continue this type of knowledge and research-based program.”

The event brought together more than 350 representatives from textile mills, RMG factories, Buying house, Textile Universities and family members of the participants.
