Covid-19: 8 die, 636 test positive, 313 recover in 24 hours

Eight people died with coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today.

The death toll now stands at 214, said Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of DGHS, during a briefing.

Six hundred and thirty-six people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of infected has reached 13,770.

A total of 5,465 samples were tested in 35 labs across the country since yesterday, Dr Nasima added.

Meanwhile, 313 patients of Covid-19 have recovered around the country in the last 24 hours. The total recovery number stands at 2,414 now, the DGHS official said.

All of the eight deceased were male, Dr Nasima said, adding that two of them were between 71-80 years old, two 61-70, one 51-60, two 41-50, and another 31-40 years old.

A total of 196 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours, she added.

Of the total infected, 58.28 percent are from Dhaka city, she also said.
